In case you missed it, The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) welcomed Michael Beard as its new CEO this week. Beard replaces former CEO Kate Murray, who came on board in 2014 following a 26-year career in Ontario public service. Kate brought a valuable set of skills to the table with her significant experience in regulatory areas. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

Michael Beard officially stepped in as CEO on November 6th. Like his predecessor, Michael brings with him a great deal of regulatory experience as former President and CEO of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Micheal also brings his own set of valuable skills to the table. With over 80,000 real estate brokers and brokerages in Ontario, being the former leader of an organization with multiple stakeholders will no doubt come in handy for a council that aims to regulate a growing number of practicing real estate professionals while also protecting the common interest.

Michael Beard, CEO of RECO

“I think this is a positive change for realtors, the council, and the province,” says Heather Rovet of ReaLawState. “As the industry continues to grow and evolve, it will be exciting to see how the new CEO will influence and spearhead those changes”.

Michael also has a breadth of leadership experience with large notable organizations such as Bell Canada and United Technologies.  We have no doubt that his strong leadership background and unique skillset will be instrumental assets to RECO and his new role there.

As changes occur at the provincial level, even bigger changes are happening here at headquarters. We’ve moved! Visit our new main branch at 909 Yonge St. (near Rosedale TTC Station).
